SUBTICS is the combat management system aboard Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Scorpène-class submarines (KD Tun Razak shown above).

Developed in France, SUBTICS is used to search for, detect, identify, track, target, and destroy surface and subsurface contacts.

Without it, the submarine cannot fight.

In recognition of its central role in submarine warfare, the book describes how SUBTICS is employed by the crew of the
Scorpène-class boat, KD Tunku Abdul Rahman, as the steel shark persecutes an incoming task group of warships.

SUBTICS is just one of several combat management systems that the book features alongside their human operators. By highlighting the role of SUBTICS and battle management and weapon control systems (BMC) that are programmed to make split-second decisions during high-intensity combat, the book aims to give you a deeper understanding of the complexity of air, land and sea engagements that rely on such systems to guide ordnance.

Read about how SUBTICS works with ASTRA, which is the guidance system for Black Shark heavyweight torpedoes, as the RMN submarine swings into action.

SUBTICS helps Malaysian submariners to calculate firing solutions while evading the ASW screen so that the two types of munitions launched will arrive on target at the same time (i.e. simultaneous TOT).

Will SUBTICS work? Find out in the book.

Expect more sneak previews of the book (no spoilers) from this blog, kementah.blogspot.com, in the coming days as we count down to the launch.

Days to launch: 14 days (22 November 22). NO PRESALE.
